Makafui

Artist profile
Makafui is a Ghanaian-Italian multi-hyphenate artist working primarily across watercolour and digital assembly. Her emotionally intimate practice explores identity, self-discovery, and the complexities of coming of age through subtle colour palettes, layered textures, and intuitive mark-making. Resisting perfection in favour of presence, Makafui embraces contradiction, exploring the space between softness and chaos, belonging and uncertainty, memory and becoming. Influenced by literature and music, particularly Richard Siken’s poetry and Sade, her work balances tenderness with discomfort and vulnerability with strength. Based in London while studying Interior Architecture, Makafui is interested in translating emotion through colour, material, texture, and space.
